Hardik Pandya To Join Team India In New Zealand After Suspension Provisionally Lifted
The BCCI on Friday announced that Hardik Pandya, who on Thursday learnt that the suspension on him for his controversial remarks on Koffee With Karan was temporarily lifted, will join up with his national teammates in New Zealand and is in fray to feature in the ongoing ODI series and upcoming T20I series against the Kiwis.
KL Rahul, who also heaved a huge sigh of relief following the CoA order, will be part of the India A squad for the three One Dayers against England Lions, and just like Hardik, is eligible to be selected in India's team for the final three ODIs and subsequent T20I series against New Zealand.
Both the players had courted massive controversy for their sexist and misogynist remarks earlier this month, and following furore on social media, were suspended till indefinite period. It not only saw them being left out of India's squad for the ODI series' against Australia and New Zealand, but also put cloud on their chances of featuring in the ICC World Cup 2019.
But on Thursday, the CoA temporarily lifted the ban served to them, pending an adjudication by a BCCI Ombudsman, who will be appointed by the Supreme Court. The apex court, which was to hear the matter of appointment of the Ombudsman on January 17, had adjourned the hearing to February 5.
