Kemar Roach delivered a specatcular performance with the ball as West Indies skittled out England on 77 runs in their first innings of the first Test between two teams at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. Roach picked up a brilliant 5-wicket haul as Joe Root's men suffered a collapse post lunch.

England were off to a decent start posting 30/1 before lunch looking set to reduce the gap to West Indies' total of 289 runs but Roach had different plans. He wreaked havoc at the English top order reducing them to 49/7 inside just 22 overs with five wickets for 14 runs. Roach eventually finished with figures of 17/5 in his 11 overs that included seven maiden overs.

Roach first cleaned up opener Rory Burns to start with before he clean bowled Jonny Bairstow with a peach. The pacer didn't stop there as he caught Ben Stokes plumb in front of the stumps and followed it up with the scalps of Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali. The on-fire pacer was ably supported by his fellow pacers as England were bundled out for 77 - the lowest total registered at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The embarrassing record previously belonged to India who were bowled out for 81 by the West Indies in their second innings of the Windies tour in March 1997. The furious pace on a dodgy wicket had then led to a heart-breaking defeat for India and it well might be the case for England, who seemingly had no answers to Roach's brilliance.

Only four English batsmen Jennings (17), Bairstow (12), Sam Curran (14) and Adil Rashid (12) managed to somehow crawl to double digits as three of them were sent back on ducks each. Alzarri Joseph and captain Jason Holder also contributed with a couple of wickets each to ensure Australia's total was the lowest ever by a team in a Test match in Barbados. West Indies' first innings total of 289 runs meant they had a 212-run lead to start their second innings with.
